What is FLoF anyway?

By now, if you’ve attended any of the local knitting group meetings, you’ve probably heard of FLoF. And you might have wondered what it is.

The “For the LOVE of Fiber” (FLoF) festival began 6 years ago around Valentine’s Day as a local gathering of the guilds. It was held at the Boalsburg Fire Hall and coordinated by the Centre Knitters Guild. We had several local fiber guilds in attendance, including the spinning, weaving and lace-making guilds. There were about 6 or 7 merchants and a giveaway of wonderful baskets, containing goodies from local shops and fiber artists.

Since that first year, we have seen lots of changes. Our location has changed (previously at General Potters Barn and now at the Match Factory in Bellefonte), our merchant area has grown, our gift baskets have exploded. We’ve added free knitting mini-classes. But through the years, we’ve stayed focused on celebrating our love of all things fiber with social knitting time and demonstrations from local fiber guilds.

This year, we are looking forward to the biggest overhaul of FLoF that we have seen. Our location has changed. Our festival date has changed. We have added food trucks to the venue. We hope that you will join us in a celebration For the LOVE of Fiber!
