2025 Monthly Meetings
December 4th, 2025 – Patton Township Building – 6:30 to 8:30 pm
Guild Holiday Party
It’s time for our annual holiday party! Bring a dish to share, and enjoy food, tea, Meyer Dairy eggnog (if available), and good company as we knit and have our annual holiday gift exchange.
Please bring:
- A knitting/crochet project to work on, and a show-and-tell piece
- A dish to share (finger food is best)
- Your Arrows hat for the November hat of the month KAL, if you made one
- A wrapped gift ($25 limit) if you’d like to participate in the gift exchange
Cups, plates, and napkins will be provided, and we will also have water, hot tea, and Meyer Dairy eggnog (if available).
It’s also time for our annual dues. Please see Kathleen at the meeting to pay the $20 membership dues by cash or check, or mail a check to Centre Knitters Guild, PO Box 177, Pine Grove Mills, PA, 16868, attn: Treasurer. Checks should be made payable to “Centre Knitters Guild”.
Novrember 6th, 2025 – Patton Township Building – 6:30 to 8:30 pm
Stacked Increases and Decreases with Cathy Reimer
For this month’s program, Cathy Reimer will guide us through making stacked increases and decreases using two of Xandy Peters’ patterns: Stars, which will be used to learn stacked increases, and Oak Leaf, which will be used to learn stacked decreases.
Homework: If you’d like to join in on our program, please bring, 25 yards of yarn in several colors (springy yarns are better than something like cotton), 2 circular needles 1 to 2 sizes larger than your yarn requires (sharp tips are best), and download both patterns. On one set of circulars, cast on and knit rows 1 to 4 of the Stars pattern, and on the other, cast on 101 stitches for the Oak Leaf border.
Straight needles will also work, but stacked increases and decreases are easiest on circulars, as they allow stitches to be moved onto the cord to relieve some of the tightness.
October 2nd, 2025 – Patton Township Building – 6:30 to 8:30 pm
Philanthropy Knitting Month
October is our annual philanthropy knitting month! Join us this month to hear from The Mommy Shop and the Jana Marie Foundation, two of the places we regularly donate hats, scarves, mittens, and baby items to! Check out our Charity Knitting page for a few patterns to get you started on knit items to donate, or reach out to Norma for more suggestions or supplies. And don’t forget to bring all the knits you’ve made to donate to this month’s meeting!
Yarn, buttons, and patterns are available at our monthly guild meetings if needed, so feel free to grab some and get to knitting! We accept knit items to donate throughout the year, but especially during the winter months, so feel free to bring them by later if you don’t have any ready to give this month.
If you crocheted any worry worms with us last month and haven’t already given them to Norma, then now is a great time to bring those in too! (And they’re quick to make, so if you haven’t made any worms yet and want to try them out, the pattern is written out on our Charity Knitting page!)
September 4th, 2025 – Patton Township Building – 6:30 to 8:30 pm
Worry Worms!
In preparation for our annual philanthropy knitting month in October, we will be making worry worms at this month’s meeting. These are a fairly beginner friendly crochet pattern, and plenty of yarn has been donated to the guild for our charity knitting. Please bring a G or H sized crochet hook, and if you would like to use your own yarn, you can also bring some worsted weight yarn. Each worm only takes a small amount of yarn, approximately 8 to 10 yards, so they’re great for using up scraps or stash yarn!
If you would like to check out the pattern early or get started on making worry worms, the pattern is written out on our Charity Knitting page!
August 7th, 2025 – Patton Township Building – 6:30 to 8:30 pm
“The Mary Thomas Knitting Book” with Elizabeth Trout
The Mary Thomas Knitting Book is an encyclopedia of knitting knowledge. Beginning with a history on knitting and working its way through both fundamentals of knitting and more advanced techniques, this book promises to be invaluable to any knitter! As a special treat, Elizabeth will also be giving copies of Mary Thomas’s Knitting Book to four lucky guild members.
July 3rd, 2025 – Patton Township Building – 6:30 to 8:30 pm
Sit ‘n’ Knit
We’re doing an informal sit ‘n’ knit again this year, since many members will be unavailable due to Fourth of July events. If you’d like a quiet place to knit with good company, bring a project (or a few!), drinks, and, if you like, a snack to share.
June 5th, 2025 – Patton Township Building – 6:30 to 8:30 pm
Magic Loop with Trudy Lindley
Magic loop is a knitting technique that allows you to work in the round using a long circular needle, instead of double-pointed needles, for small projects like socks, hats, and sleeves. Unlike so many ancient knitting techniques, Magic Loop is a 21st century innovation. You’re a Luddite still clinging to your DPs? Trudy will teach you Magic loop, gently nudging you into the modern era. Those of us who already know the technique are encouraged to help out. Magic Loop was a top request in last summer’s member survey. Check out the handout on Magic Loop Trudy created for us if you want a little more information on the technique ahead of our meeting.
Bring: Yarn and a circular needle with a cord that is at least 30 to 36″, though longer is better.
Don’t forget to bring your finished Hat KAL hats to show off!
Officer Elections
This meeting, we will also be holding officer elections for two positions, the president and secretary. Our treasurer, Kathleen, will run a nominations period, where members can nominate themselves or other guild members, and then an election to vote for our new officers. The two nominations that have been made at this time are for Anne Hoag, the current president, nominated for the position of president, and Lisa Forsyth, the current secretary, nominated for the position of secretary.
May 1st, 2025 – Patton Township Building – 6:30 to 8:30 pm
Knit Companion with Beth Hopkins
Knit Companion, as many members know, is a digital tool to be used with both knitting and crochet patterns. It provides features like pattern tracking, row counters, and the ability to annotate patterns.
In this month’s program, Beth will share the tool’s basic features in the free version and some of the features in the paid version. We’ll learn about setting up markers, setting up counters, using the highlighter, inserting video links and adding keys. Beth will also share a digital handout with links to helpful videos.
What to bring: If you would like to experiment with the tool while Beth leads us, bring a laptop or tablet with the app downloaded from the Apple Store (iOS version), Google Play Store (Android version), or Amazon. Those who have the app already might want to have a pattern in mind to experiment with. You can access a pattern from your Ravelry library using KP. You may also want to set this up beforehand, should there be a Township building wifi issue. Knit Companion can be used on a phone as well but Beth finds a tablet or laptop easier to use. Links to download the free app can be found on the Knit Companion website.
Here’s the pdf of the handout in case you missed the meeting or want an extra copy!
April 3rd, 2025 – Patton Township Building – 6:30 to 8:30 pm
Fiber Tourism: Cruises, Festivals, KALs & More
First we’ll debrief on another FLoF success! Then, for our main program, we’ll share tales of fiber tourism, enrichment and community. Have you attended a fiber-related festival or enrolled in a class or tour you especially enjoyed? An awesome KAL, a cruise, an especially helpful class? Bring your stories, souvenirs and recommendations to share at this month’s meeting. Elaine, Susan, Anne V. and Julie will get our happy discussion started with their experiences.

- And what on earth do you do with a color wheel?
We’ll explore all of this at Cynthia’s talk! Please join us on August 1 for a fascinating look into the world of color!
There’s no homework for this meeting.
A happy reminder that, thanks to Cynthia, Guild members enjoy a 10% discount on non-sale yarn at Stitch Your Art Out, https://www.stitchyourartout.com/.

Susan Magargee will pick up the key.
June 8th, 2024 – Patton Township Building – 6:30 to 8:30 pm
The program this month is a group discussion on the future direction of The Centre Knitters Guild. Our guild is 21 years old, all grown up, healthy and growing! It’s a good time to reflect on our history and look to our future. Please give some thought to these prompts and be willing to contribute your ideas. You may voice your views during the discussion and/or you may write them down and give them to an officer at the end of the meeting. A paper survey will be distributed for that purpose. Whether you’ve been a member for 20 years or joined more recently, think about what you value in our knitting community and what direction and purpose we should aspire to in future. Consider:
- What do you enjoy about Guild? What would enhance your enjoyment and satisfaction in future?
- How have you participated and contributed as a member in the past and how would you like to participate and contribute in future?
- What is our service mission to members, to the local fibre community, and to the wider public? What would you like to see as our mission to these 3 communities in future?
- Especially for long-time members and those who have served as officers and event organizers, what values and successful activities from our history may we have forgotten or lost sight of, if anything? Remind us newer folks of our roots.
- You may spark thoughts and ideas from our local guild website at https://centreknittersguild.com/ and at the national guild site at https://tkga.org/.
May 2nd, 2024 – Patton Township Building – 6:30 to 8:30 pm
We will meet next Thursday, May 2nd, for our monthly meeting. The topic for this meeting is “My Favorite Things”. This meeting will be as informative and fun as we choose to make it – I know that you lovely knitters will not let us down! Please bring any of your favorite knitting related things – items knit, tools, needles, books, patterns (you get the idea) – and be prepared to share about them. I have a sweater I have knit three times, can you believe it? And will be sure to bring one of them along to tell you why. To make this really interesting consider bringing one of your favorite snacks to share.
April 4th, 2024 – Patton Township Building – 6:30 to 8:30 pm
Spring is here! Our monthly meeting is next Thursday, April 4. Looking forward to seeing you!
The doors will open at 6:30 for sit, knit and chat. Our meeting will start at 7:00.
Following preliminary business and discussion, Hannah Black will lead our program, “Crochet Basics.” To prepare, Hannah offers these details:
We will be learning the basic stitches of crochet which compound on themselves and can be used to make many different designs. Our goal for the program is to make a wristlet using these stitches in any pattern that you choose. What is needed for this project is about 100 or so yards of worsted weight yarn (or dk if that’s easier to find) and either a G (4mm), 7 (4.5mm), or H (5mm) hook, a tapestry needle, and scissors. If you want to study up on the stitches before the meeting, this is a good tutorial: https://www.thesprucecrafts.com/basic-stitches-in-crochet-978516.
March 4th, 2024 – Patton Township Building – 6:30 to 8:30 pm
This meeting is our run-up to For the LOVE of Fiber event scheduled for March 16th. We will discuss final preparations and get ready for the Big Day! Please bring any final donations for the Silent Auction and make plans for your volunteer duties for the 16th! It will be especially important to denote if you will be available for the Friday night Pizza/Guild member shopping event the evening before For the LOVE of Fiber!
We will also discuss the Laura Nelkin classes that are scheduled for April. Have questions? Answers will be provided!
February 1st, 2024 – Patton Township Building – 6:30 to 8:30 pm
This meeting will contain some information about preparation for For the LOVE of Fiber. Please bring donations for baskets if you have them. More info coming!!
Our program this night, presented by our own Cathy Riemer, is working a Gathered Circular Cast On.
Here is Cathy’s description:
I originally developed this technique for thread lace projects like doilies, but it also works with yarn for items like top-down hats and circular blankets — anytime you want to start from a small circle or
single point rather than a line of stitches. It tends to produce a more uniform, tidy center than some other circular cast-ons, because even the very first round of loops is formed on a needle for consistent
size.
Materials:
* a few yds of smooth, light-colored practice yarn
* a set of dpns (or a long circ for magic loop) of corresponding size
* one extra dpn, that you don’t mind putting tape on
* 3″-4″ of crochet thread (I will bring some, and tape)
We will be tying the thread into a small loop and taping it to the extra dpn, to create an eye. Or if you happen to have any of the following tools with a diameter roughly similar to your dpns/circ, that’s even better: “knook” (crochet hook with an eye); “locker hook” used for rug-making (not to be confused with latch hook); “bodkin” for threading elastic in home sewing; tatting needle (if knitting with thread); “wool needle” with a loop eye; … basically any smooth rod with an eye that is not larger than the rod’s diameter.
Homework:
This technique is an adaptation of Judy’s Magic Cast-On, so please watch
her video at www.youtube.com/watch?v=1pmxRDZ-cwo and practice it a few
times, especially if you haven’t done JMCO before. If you have trouble
don’t worry, we will review it as part of the class.
January 4th, 2024 – Patton Township Building – 6:30 to 8:30 pm HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!
“Scraps & Skeins & Good Day Cafe Night”
Representatives from two of our favorite local hangouts (and Strawberry Fields programs) will visit to inspire us with their stories. Bring quality cast-offs from your stash and notions/needles drawer to donate to Scraps & Skeins.
FLoF Note: Please bring any baskets you can spare for the Silent Auction at FLoF 2024. We are on the run-up to the big event! Donations to the Silent Auction are gratefully accepted.
2023
December 2nd, 2023_Patton Township Building_6:30 – 8:30 PM
Our annual holiday party is Thursday, December 7 at the usual time (7 p.m., with open knitting time at 6:30) and the usual place, Patton Township meeting room off Greentech Drive.
- Please bring a Christmas, Hanukkah or Kwanzaa Holiday treat — appetizer or dessert — to share at our buffet. Paper products and beverages will be supplied.
- If you would like to participate in our gift exchange, bring a wrapped gift; upper limit on value is $25.
- If you have any more finished Knitted Knockers, you may bring them for Anne to add to our ready-for-distribution supply.
- Our campaign was a tremendous success! Not only did we achieve and surpass our goal of 100 KKs, but we also generated a lot of media attention for Breast Cancer Prevention Month so that more Centre County residents are aware of the importance of annual screenings, treatment options and how to obtain our Knitted Knockers! YAY US!!!!
November 2nd, 2023_Patton Township Building_6:30 – 8:30 PM
“Holiday Knitting!”
The content of the meeting will be discussion on holiday knitting – tips and tricks, patterns and yarns and how to stay healthy. Please bring your ideas to share.
But, before we get to the program content we will be finishing up our Knitted Knockers. Please bring all finished knockers with you – please have them blocked if possible. If you have some you are still working on, that is great! Bring them too. Each knocker earns you a ticket for the great knitting tool raffle. The more knockers – the more chances to win. We will be limiting winners to two items. What this means is if you have a lot of tickets in the drawing you are more likely to be pulled for a prize. We will however limit the number of prizes each participant can receive to two.
We may have a student journalist with us to film the activity of the meeting. They will simply be filming and will do a voice over during the editing. This content will be on the PSU website and the Centre County Report. It is possible that it will be picked up at WPSU T.V. and seen in 28 counties. Good for us, and for women everywhere to get this exposure and information on breast cancer care and awareness. Please see below for the lovely article that was featured in StateCollege.com
https://www.statecollege.com/articles/community/local-providers-and-volunteers-work-to-raise-breast-cancer-awareness-support-patients/
We will also start collecting for the silent auction baskets for For Love of Fiber. You can bring your baskets, notions, books and yarn in its original form – not caked – to the meetings. Ruth Christensen will be the collector of these items.
Thank you for all you do to make this guild healthy and vibrant. Knitters are the best!

Our program: “Knitters: We’re a Big Deal”
Anne Hoag will give a brief talk about the role sheep, shearers, spinners and mills, designers, LYS’s and knitters themselves play in the Pennsylvania, U.S. and global economies. We’re a big deal — a $2.9 Billion big deal!

Bring your works in progress, your pointy sticks and stay a while!
May 4th, 2023_Patton Township Building_6:30 – 8:30 PM
Tonight we vote on the nomination of Anne Hoag for the Presidential position. Hannah Black has generously volunteered to remain as Secretary. (Thank YOU, Hannah!)
Our Program: Let’s Talk Stash
We all have it! There is the extra yarn that is leftover from a project. Or the yarn that we saw in the “Sale Bin” that just begged us to buy it.
Now the question is “What do I do with this yarn?”

Bring your questions and experience with regards to using stash yarn to the next Guild meeting, on May 4th.
Do you have a favorite way to organize your stash?
Do you have pattern names that are good for using up stash yarn?
Bring any projects that you have made using your stash yarn.
We will have an open forum to share questions and ideas. Let’s have some fun talking STASH!
April 6th, 2023_Patton Township Building_6:30 – 8:30 PM
Yarn* Swap
The purpose of this yarn* swap is to help everyone refresh their stashes, especially after FLOF. There will be two swap options: a round of direct trading, and a Free table. To prepare, you should think about items to bring that meet two criteria:
(1) Someone else in the group might want the item. *We are primarily thinking of yarn, but tools, project bags, roving, or other related items are acceptable. They do not need to be brand new or unwound, but should be in good shape.
(2) The item would be an acceptable Scraps & Skeins donation. This is so that we can take any leftover items and donate them there without sorting. (For example, food or yarn-themed miscellany such as clothing are often considered acceptable at the Christmas exchange, but not for this swap.)To prepare for the swap, we recommend that you bag items that you want to swap as a group and provide labels with pertinent info, such as the number of skeins, yarn weight, fiber content, and approximate total yardage in a lot.
There will be two methods of swapping, so you should divide your items into two categories:
(A) Items that you would like to trade, or that you think would be a good bargaining chip
(B) Items that you just want to get rid of, and don’t mind not receiving anything in returnFor items in category A we will have a swap as our evening’s activity. Everyone who brings something in the A category will receive a ticket and we will draw tickets to decide the order. When it is your turn, you will present your items to the group. There will be an opportunity for others to “make you an offer” (i.e. an item or items they brought to swap, not money!) and trade at that time. (A reasonable amount of time will be allowed for this so that we get through everyone’s turn.) Then the next person will present their items, etc. After everyone has had a turn, there will be time for freely swapping additional items, or leftover items may be placed on the Free table.
For items in category B we will have a Free table set up. Everyone can leave items on this table at any time, and everyone can take items from this table starting AFTER the organized swap round has finished.
Anyone who does not bring items to swap will still be allowed to take from the Free table. Anything left on the Free table at the end of the night will be donated to Scraps and Skeins (though nothing prevents you from retrieving your own items from the table towards the end if you prefer).
March 2nd, 2023_Patton Township Building_6:30 – 8:30 PM
This meeting will be the tune up for our Fiber event, For the LOVE of Fiber. Be in on the planning!
February 2nd, 2023_Patton Township Building_6:30 – 8:30 PM
Groundhog Day! The program for this meeting will be presented by Cathy Reimer. She will be teaching us how to make an I-cord using crochet hooks. There is NO homework. However, the following supplies are needed:
– A few yards of practice yarn that is froggable and makes stitches easy to see.
– Two crochet hooks of appropriate size for your yarn (e.g. H-8 for worsted weight). The exact size isn’t critical, but the two hooks should be the same. (Scraps & Skeins often has some.)
We are also collecting donations for the FLoF silent auction baskets. If donating yarn, it must be unwound. We are also in desperate need of baskets!
Remember FLoF will be held at the Ramanda Inn Conference Center on March 18th.
January 4th, 2023_Patton Township Building_6:30 – 8:30 PM
Happy New Year! We start fresh with new plans for projects in the new year.

November 3rd, 2022_Patton Township Building_6:30 – 8:30 PM
In response to Libby Beiler’s presentation last month we will examine swatches made from her mostly handspun samples. Cast on 20 Stitches, use 4 on each side as garter stitch edges, and stockinette stitch the centers to see how the different yarns present themselves based on their staple characteristics.
There will be planning for the December Christmas celebration and much more!
[Please continue to bring baskets suitable for the Silent Auction at the next For the LOVE of Fiber event that will take place March 18th, 2023. Susan Magargee will collect all baskets for storage. Thank YOU!]
October 6th, 2022_Patton Township Building_6:30 – 8:30 PM
As a special treat, Libby Beiler will join us. Libby will describe different wools and how they knit up for projects. Always informative, Libby has a wealth of sheep knowledge and experience!

Please continue to bring baskets suitable for the Silent Auction at the next For the LOVE of Fiber event that will take place March 18th, 2023. Susan Magargee will collect all baskets for storage. Thank YOU!
This month, JoAnne Voigt will show us the Duplicate Stitch. This very useful technique helps put pictures on the face of knitting without using intarsia. It is rather a kind of embroidery using yarn that matches the knitted stitches underneath. There is homework for this session! Bring a knitted piece of work, stockinette stitch on rather large needles so you have large stitches to work over, in a big enough format (4×4?, 8×8?) to be the background for more than one figure. You will need a tapestry needle and yarns to work the figure. Yarns can be of different colors. You will also need to find a figure you would like to stitch. Using knitting graph paper (free download: https://www.knit-wise.com/shop/p/free-printable-knitting-graph-paper) sketch out a simple image (heart, bell, circle, star, Scotty dog…?) for the first try.
Bring your pointy sticks and current works-in-progress to share!
August 4th, 2022_Patton Township Building_6:30 – 8:30 PM
At this meeting, you will have the opportunity to make some stitch markers. We will have the beading supplies to make 3 different markers. Please bring the following if you are interested in making the markers:
- Reading glasses (if you need them for small work)
- Scissors that can cut beading wire.
- If you have needle nose pliers that are smooth on the inside surface.
- If you have beading tools please bring them as we have a few to share.
- A piece of felt or beading mat. This will help keep the materials in one place.
- Any special beads that you may want to use for your stitch markers.

Afterwards we enjoyed knitting and each other’s company at Doggies
July 7th, 2022_Patton Township Building_6:30 – 8:30 PM
Bring to this meeting one item that is the oldest knitted item that you still have. This may take some digging. Hopefully it will be a fun trip down memory lane. I know I need to find and dive into a baby bin that has been packed away somewhere inside my house.
The sharing of these projects will be our program for the month.
The balloon mural is up on the outside of the Pugh Street garage! At the meeting we will select a date for us to go take our picture at it and then have an evening of knitting together.
Our Ravelry Summer Charity KAL has started. Check it out at: https://www.ravelry.com/groups/centre-knitters-guild?s=tab
As always the social knit time will be from 6:30 to 7:00. The meeting will start at 7 pm.
Happy Knitting!
June 2nd, 2022_Patton Township Building_6:30 – 8:30 PM
We start with a semi-new slate of officers: Julie Breuninger has accepted the post of Vice President and Kathleen Hummiston is now our Treasurer. Congratulations and thanks to both for agreeing to serve and very special thanks to Christine Nebroski and Kathy Horlacher who have served tremendously as Vice President and Treasurer, respectively. We are, and have indeed, been fortunate!
We will have a brief report on the successful (and quite damp) bus trip to Maryland Sheep and Wool festival. A total blast!
This month Libby Beiler will reprise her popular class presented at FLoF, “5 Cast On Methods for Toe Up Socks.” Here is her introduction:
“It’s nice to have options, especially when it comes to knitting socks. That being said, there is no shortage of techniques on just about every aspect of sock knitting, particularly heels. Many types come to mind: traditional, afterthought, fish lips, short row…the list goes on. But what about toes? At first glance, it seems fairly straight forward. Cast on a certain number of stitches, and start increasing. But fit, wearability, comfort, and aesthetics are important concerns. Wouldn’t it be great if a variety of cast on techniques for toes were available to sock knitters? Turns out, there are!
Come join us for a fun and VERY enlightening hour completely devoted to cast on methods for toe up socks. If you’ve never knitted a toe up sock before, that’s ok. If you’ve never knitted ANY sock before, that’s ok too! All you’ll need is a 32” or 40” circular needle Size 7 or 8 and some practice worsted weight yarn in a light color. (These are easiest to learn using Magic Loop.)
All five methods are simple, several are mind blowing…guaranteed to make you smack your head, a la V8 commercial…why didn’t I think of that before???” Libby suggests that you bring a tablet or smart phone in order to follow along with her YouTube channel.
Bring with you as well your WIPs to be admired, your pointy sticks, and your enthusiasm for our Guild!
May 5th, 2022_Patton Township Building_6:30 – 8:30 PM Election of Vice President and more…
At this meeting there will be the election of officers. Kathleen Humiston has been nominated for treasurer. We are in need of someone to fill the vice president position. The duties of the vice president are to attend the quarterly board meetings, monitor the Guild’s gmail account and reply to email inquiries, and conduct a Guild meeting if the president is unavailable. Please contact Ruth if you have any interest/questions about this position.
Also at this meeting we will be collecting the yarn balloons for the yarn mural being sponsored by the SC Downtown Improvement District. Christine Nebroski will take them to the State College’s Downtown Improvement Office.
The main topic for this Thursday will be the bus trip to Maryland Sheep and Wool Festival.
- We will be departing from the North Atherton Weis parking lot
- The Fullington bus will be arriving around 6 am
- Please plan to arrive no later than 6:15 am.
- The bus will be departing promptly at 6:30 am
- We will be stopping at a rest stop in Maryland
- Admission to the festival is $5. Have exact bills for faster admittance.
- Bring whatever you would like to have on the bus. The Guild is NOT providing any food or drinks.
- We will leave the festival around 4 pm
- Dinner will be at the Cracker Barrel in Frederick, Maryland.
- Everyone is responsible for their own meal.
- The Guild will cover the cost of the driver’s tip. Cracker Barrel is supposed to cover the cost of the driver’s meal. If not, the Guild will pay for it.
Bring your Balloons, current projects, finished projects–We will admire ALL!

March 3rd, 2022_Patton Township Building_6:30 – 8:30 PM
That Groundhog practically did us in with that ice storm! Not THIS time…
We meet in the proceedings up to For the LOVE of Fiber. Bring any questions about the LoF patches you might have. Tags for labeling the knitted items you want to display on the CKG table will be provided. Please consider how you could volunteer for the March 19 event–there will be a sign up sheet. Please bring any donations for the silent auction baskets that you feel you can give up. REMEMBER, there are two additional donation drop off days at Wegman’s Cafe, February 16 and March 2 between 5 and 7 pm, if you cannot make it to the meeting. Thank YOU! And dues are absolutely due as well! This meeting will be the start of sign ups for the May 7th bus trip to Maryland Sheep and Wool. Last year members who are paid up for this year will be eligible for the free ride to MDSW! Good Times!
February 3rd, 2022_Patton Township Building_6:30 – 8:30 PM Meeting canceled due to ICE Storm
The Day after Groundhog Day! Whew! This month’s project is knitting the LOVE of Fiber patch which we will use to get in the mood for the March 19th LOVE of Fiber Event. Materials you will need: two colors of similar weight yarns with high color contrast, can be of any weight with needles to match the weight. The finer the weight, the smaller the finished patch. These can be worn at FLoF as an identifier for guild members–can be used as a pocket, hung from a name tag, slapped on a mask…
These are knit flat in stockinette using Fair Isle technique to form the image. They can be bold or subtle.
Be creative, make more than one–it’s fun to do! Susan Magargee will go through the knitting techniques.
Also! If you have contributions for the Silent Auction Baskets, please bring to this meeting. We will meet one more time before March 19th, so start searching now for yarns or equipment that you’ve decided would be better used as a Basket Bonus! Thanks to all!
January 6th, 2022_Patton Township Building_6:30 – 8:30 PM
Happy New Year!! New beginnings–new techniques. This month be prepared for Helix Knitting, a different way to correct jogs in one-row stripes when knitting in the round. This will be presented by our own Jean Barczak.
There is homework to be prepared ahead of time: Choose the yarn of your choice and corresponding needles. To finish the hat you will need double pointed needles. Choose three colors. You will need three stitch markers, one of a different color to mark the beginning of the row. Before the meeting, choose one of the colors (ribbing is done in one color) and cast on the number of stitches divisible by 3 and work 1-2 inches in the ribbing of your choice.
Bring this project along with your current works in progress for an evening of knitting pleasure!
Also, a reminder, 2022 dues are now due for membership. Bring your check or exact change of $15 for another year of Guild doings! This has been a great group to belong to!
2021
December 2nd, 2021_Patton Township Building_6:30 – 8:30 PM
This is our annual holiday get-together. We join for appetizers and desserts with hot drinks available. Please see the google doc to let us know what you will be bringing to avoid too much duplication: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1QA6YAILo0vrhQ5126V0DTtrbAOH0verRzgDXRt2x2WE/edit?usp=sharing
There is also an opportunity for an optional gift exchange. Bring a gift, get a gift. The rule is the gift should be about $25, no more, and wrapped. The gifts will be chosen by drawing numbers. In the number order, each person will select a gift but WILL NOT OPEN it. If by chance, the last person is left with the gift they brought, they will swap with one person. After the gifts have been distributed they will then be opened.
I hope all can come and join in the seasonal fun! Ho Ho Ho!!!
November 4th, 2021_Patton Township Building_6:30 – 8:30 PM
This month we have a visit from Tamarack Farms and Lazy O Ranch for a convenient shopping experience. Each will give a short talk about their operation before the fun begins. Explore your stash to see what you might just have to have to spruce it up! Temptation awaits!
October 7th, 2021_Patton Township Building_6:30 – 8:30 PM
October is the month to examine your knitting tools to get ready for the Fall/Winter knitting season. To help get in the spirit Cynthia Spencer will present on the topic of equipment:
Do you love tools that make your knitting life easier? This month, Cynthia Spencer will give you a peek into her personal tool pouch, showing you all the tools she carries–and most important, actually uses! Join us for an amusing discussion of the pluses and minuses of different tools. Bring some of your own favorites to show off as well! At the end of the meeting, Cynthia will have a selection of tools that you may try or buy!
Also at the October meeting we will be giving away 2 door prizes. Please join us to check out the knitting tools and have a chance to win a nice door prize!
As always, bring your WIPs and FOs to claim some acclaim! We always have time for knitting!
September 2, 2021_Patton Township Building_6:30 – 8:30 PM
Something corrupted this post…
Bring your WIPs as well to be admired and plan to get some knitting accomplished.
August 5, 2021_Patton Township Building_6:30 – 8:30 PM
We meet as a group to celebrate long thread works with needles. This month please bring your favorite book (about fiber works) to share why it’s your favorite. Please make it only ONE book–the best! We will discuss…
As we are able to meet as a larger and larger group, our programs are coming along. We have ideas in store for the future as Kate Torres takes on, once again, her role as ringmaster. She has been busy! We are open to new programs–let us know what you are interested in learning or exploring. There is new zest in the air!
As usual, bring your Works-in-Progress and your pointy sticks and any Finished Object so we all can applaud!
July 1, 2021_Patton Township Building_6:30 – 8:30 PM
Join the burgeoning group as we try on the new President and Vice President for size! We can take care of the business of voting in the new VP and see what is in store! We are still working on being in public all alone without supervision so programming will be scant. Bring your works in progress. If you are coming back out into the wide open for the first time, bring your entire opus of ‘Rona finished projects (or at least two!) to share the trials of pandemic separation. We cheer all progress!
June 3, 2021_Patton Township Building_6:30 – 8:30 PM
Join us! There should be some emails going around beforehand in order to nominate and elect a new President. Chelsey has served well for quite some time and it’s now time for another to take the reins. Chelsey will have sent around a list of duties of the office of the president. Search your soul to see if you, yes, YOU, could find yourself serving the Guild in this fashion. We will all be grateful, oh New Leader! Our current Secretary, Madam Hannah Black has graciously agreed to serve on. Thank you, Hannah! So this meeting will be a surprise, but not an onerous one!
Meanwhile bring any WIPs, something to work with your pointy sticks, and some conversation and let’s see what happens next!!!
May 6, 2021_Patton Township Building_6:30 – 8:30 PM
We’ll be back at Patton Township, large meeting room–our place–for this meeting. Since we have been staying apart there hasn’t been a good opportunity to both nominate as well as elect a new Secretary and President. This meeting won’t have the opportunity either. (We will need to do this over the etherwaves for the next meeting in June–so relax!) This month we will knit and share progress and keep up with the news of the guild.
April 1, 2021_Patton Township Building_6:30 Meeting CANCELED!!!
NO FOOLIN’! The Patton Township meeting room has been designated as a Covid Testing Site. Our meeting has been canceled for April. Back in May!!! (As a note, you can be tested for Covid for free from 10 AM until 7 PM Tuesday through Saturday, until May 1.)
This is the meeting during which we nominate for the positions of President and Secretary for our Guild. Please search your soul and comprehend that you can serve the Guild in one of these positions–You CAN! Please consider!!! We can rebuild out of the pandemic and find new purpose and programs.
Bring your current works on the needles, pointy sticks, and some conversation to share. We will celebrate IN-PERSON once again! Masks and distancing is still required, but it won’t be forever–that’s what vaccines are for!
March 4th, 2021_Patton Township Building_6:30 – 8:30 PM
YES! We will meet at the township building. We look pretty good in 3-D. Come and see!
February 4th, 2021_Patton Township Building_6:30 – 8:30 PM
We are back in the game at our usual scheme of meetings. Our VP Ruth Christensen will be leading. There is no set program since many members will not be present due to the virus situation. Those who do come will have 3-D interactions with others with needles in hand. Good lighting, good company, good knitting!
January 7th, 2021_Patton Township Building_6:30 – 8:30 PM
HAPPY NEW YEAR TO ALL!!! It’s the start of a new year and let’s make sure it’s a good one! Our first Guild meeting of the year will be Thursday Jan 7 at 7pm at the Patton Twp building meeting room with social hour at 6:30pm.
If anyone wants to bring any yarn/fiber/notions/etc to give away or sell this would be a good meeting to do that. Bring your Holiday money and possibly get some new things!
Don’t forget to wear your mask and there’s plenty of space to be physically distant in the room. Hope to see you there!!
2020
December 3rd, 2020 CANCELED
Merry Christmas to ALL! I’m afraid that this month’s meeting is canceled as Chelsey has Covid and is out of action for the near future. Everyone have a great holiday. Let’s hold on for 2021 and better days ahead.
STAY SAFE, STAY CALM, KNIT ON!
November 5th, 2020 CANCELED
The Patton Township Building is closed for the week.
After looking at the results of the survey, Chelsey concluded that we will have a partial vendor night. Not enough people said they would attend to make having an outside vendor come in worth it…so…Mary Frawley will be bringing her project bags to sell and we are making the rest a giving/trading/selling night. If you want to bring yarn, etc to give, trade or sell…bring it! The more the better! Let’s start our holiday shopping! There is room to spread out and we can make sure each person who is shopping keeps their distance from the others. Reminder, masks are required. There is no Zoom option for this meeting.
October 1st, 2020_Patton Township Building_6:30 – 8:30PM
Ditto September. Honest, we really do socially distance with masks. Bring your knitting, and your ideas! There is a Zoom element for this evening: Join from PC, Mac, Linux, iOS or Android: https://psu.zoom.us/j/97582651513?pwd=TEVsZjZxKzUyalgrYjFWUmRaa21PQT09 Password: 804696
September 3rd, 2020_Patton Township Building_6:30 – 8:30PM
We will meet again at Patton Township Building along with a zoom feature for those who need to be more isolated. We still need to work on programs–it’s time to be learning something! Ideas, Anyone, that would work with Zoom? This whole virus thing is getting in the way of progress!
Bring your pointy sticks and some knitting (and your social distancing etiquette)–We need your input!
August 6th, 2020_Patton Township Building_6:30 – 8:30PM
Members have been sent an email with details about voting for new officers. Please respond by Wednesday so the results can be announced at this meeting.
Bring your pointy sticks and some knitting (and your social distancing etiquette) and let’s discuss ideas for new programs as well as For the Love of Fiber_2021. We need your thoughts and enthusiasms!
July 2nd, 2020_Patton Township Building_6:30 – 8:30 PM
WE ARE BACK! Join us again in public (with masks and proper social distancing) in the large meeting room at Patton Township for an actual meeting! It’s been a very, very long time!!!
This month’s business requires election of both Vice President and Treasurer for the Guild. Kathy Horlacher has agreed to stay on as Treasurer (Yay) but we need a VP nomination. “The Vice President shall assist the President and serve in the absence of the President.” These are two year terms. Please think hard about serving the Guild. The vote will take place at this meeting.
There is no official program for this gathering–just (distantly) social knitting again at last! Bring your finished projects from the last few months and show off your stay-at-home productions.
May 7th, 2020_ZOOM Meeting will take place beginning at 6:30
Join us for a Zoom meeting (https://psu.zoom.us/j/99610271514?pwd=cTJtdnVqTmpoWWVQaE5odVoycmhhQT09, Password: 051995)
This will cover general business as well as social knitting. There will be no established program during this meeting. Keep knitting, keep breathing, keep safe!
APRIL MEETING IS CANCELED BY ORDER OF THE GOVERNOR
Stay home and knit up a storm. One day we will all gather together to enjoy knitting as a group. Until then stay safe, wash your hands and be a hermit.
March 5th, 2020_Nittany Mall Community Room_6:30 – 8:30 PM
[This month we are meeting at a new location, just this once, in the Community Room at the Nittany Mall. Approach from the back of the mall, look for the blue awning toward the far end. Go through that door and take the very first left inside. The room lacks the formality of the Patton Township Building, but the community is the same.]
The EXCITEMENT mounts!!! This is our last meeting before the LOVE of Fiber Event and time to finalize plans. Please bring any further donations for the Silent Auction. This is the last chance to renew membership for the year. (Note that only paid members qualify for a preview shopping and pizza night the evening before The LOVE of Fiber. Join us!)
February 6th, 2020_Patton Township Building_6:30 – 8:30PM
February brings a visit from Dawn Shaffer of Lazy O Ranch for a presentation on sheep farming and yarn production as well as yarn sales. Bring your pointy sticks in order to knit while being entertained with wool-raising stories.
January 2nd, 2020_Patton Township Building_6:30 – 8:30PM
Yes, come even if bleary-eyed from the holidays! Time for new beginnings …and beginning to regret those resolutions.
It IS time to resolve to pay your annual dues of $15, due now.
This month Diane Senn will present the class she is planning for FLoF_2020–Picot Cast On and Picot Bind Off and Picot edging. This class results in a charming Picot Coaster featuring your new skills in Picot-age. The materials you will need are worsted weight yarn (cotton dishcloth yarn or kitchen cotton,) Size 7 or 8 or 9 needles, an open stitch marker and a way to count rows (could be a pencil and paper!) The project on will start with a knitted cast on which Diane can review if needed. You will begin and finish this project in short order and learn a new frill for the New Year!
2019
December 5th, 2019_Patton Township Building_6:30 – 8:30PM
This will be our Holiday Party. Usual scheme. [We sponsor a potluck for all. Bring a dish (finger food, snack) to share and we will celebrate a little early the upcoming season of cheer. Tableware is provided, but bring a serving spoon if needed for your offering. Hot and cold drinks have been volunteered.] AND, if you wish, a wrapped fiber-related gift valued no more than $25 for an exchange. Entirely voluntary–bring a gift, receive a gift. We will have an early taste of the seasonal spirit to get us started on the best month of the year.
November 7th, 2019_Patton Township Building_6:30 – 8:30PM
This month our program will be led by Whitney Gouge who has created a clever knitted gift card holder shaped like a stocking. It will be a knit-along. Here are some directions from Whitney to get ready for the KAL:

The class I’ll be teaching on Thursday will focus primarily on the wrap-and-turn method of turning a heel, but will also result in a Christmas stocking ornament just the right size for a gift card or other small gift. I’ll also provide the full written pattern for both a full-sized and a mini version of that stocking at guild.
If anyone wants to learn the heel but not do the whole stocking, they can just cast on 24 st and knit 6-8 rounds for set-up.
The pattern calls for size 7 needles (either DPN or cable needle for magic loop), and two colors of worsted weight yarn (about 10 yards of color A for the cuff/heel/toe and 15 yards of color B for the body of the stocking).
For those who do want to make the stocking, here’s the set-up to get to the heel:
CO 25 st with color A, join in the round
Round 1: Purl
Round 2: Knit. Repeat rounds 1 and 2 four times, for a total of eight rounds
Cut color A and switch to color B
On first round of color B, knit to last two stitches, then K2tog to end round (you should now have 24st on your needles). Knit 22 additional rounds of color B
SPECIAL EVENT:
PAT OLSKI
ALL DAY WORKSHOP
OCTOBER 12, 2019
Plan to arrive with your covered dish by 8:30. That will give time to settle before our first session starts at 9 sharp. Bring yarn supplies in and spend the day.
The Centre Knitters Guild is sponsoring a two-part all day workshop for members featuring Pat Olski, knitting guru. She will present two separate techniques:
STITCH GYMNASTICS
Go beyond cables and lace in this fun, hands-on workshop, perfect for the intrepid knitter. We will practice manipulating stitches in conventional and novel ways to create extraordinary surface interest. Learn to combine these techniques to create fabulous patterns which will elevate your knitting to a custom level!
Technique Requirements: Knit/purl; cast on/bind off; increase/decrease; cables; beginner lace; chart reading
Supply List
Please bring a ball of a smooth DK- or worsted- weight yarn in a light color and a pair of similarly sized knitting needles, scissors, and a crochet hook if you choose, for dropped stitches.
BOHUS STICKNING WRIST-WARMERS From the 1930’s through the 1960’s, Bohus Stickning was a cottage industry in Bohuslan, Sweden, devised to provide aid to workers living in an economically depressed region. This gorgeous knitwear style is immediately recognizable. Knitters will learn about the great color and texture techniques that define Bohus knitting. Students will make a pair of wrist-warmers using the classic methods of the Bohus Stickning cooperative knitters. This class requires chart reading, knitting in the round, and color work skill. For the Bohus knitting you will need 5 colors. Pat said she used fingering yarn, but you could use sport if you are going to make the wrist band and it will be a little loose. You don’t have to make the band you can just knit the fabric flat. Of course you will need needles appropriate for whatever yarn you are using.
The event will be held at the Videon Building, 2171 Sandy Dr., State College, PA. The Videon building is on the right on Sandy Drive which is just off Science Park Road. There is a day care center on one corner, S&A homes office is on another corner, both on the same side of the street and Sandy drive goes between them.
REMEMBER PART OF THE ADMISSION FEE IS A DISH FOR THE LUNCH POT LUCK.
October 3rd, 2019_Patton Township Building_6:30 – 8:30PM
As a special treat this month we will learn the especially stretchy slip knot cast on presented by Whitney Gouge. (Cathy Riemer showed this last month during show and tell with her supremely elastic preemie hat.) This is a good one! But tricky…bring a smooth yarn, not too stretchy, and needles to match. The yarn should be willing to be reworked several times without shredding. This takes some patience, but is a marvelous cast on, especially for 1×1 or 2×2 ribbing.

This month Cathy Riemer returns with a workshop on Japanese Short Rows. With Cathy’s usual precise and detailed instructions you can learn the value of this short row method.
Materials and homework to prepare in advance: Materials: — Practice yarn in a solid color that makes stitches easy to see — Needles appropriate for your yarn — 6 removable stitch markers or coil-less safety pins.
Homework: 1. Review and practice doing the “ssp” (slip-slip-purl) stitch, a.k.a. “left-slanting purled decrease”: with yarn in front, slip one st knitwise, slip another st knitwise, return both sts to left needle, reach the right needle tip around behind and insert it from *left to right* through both sts, wrap yarn and purl the sts together. 2. CO 35 sts and work at least 3 rows of stockinette, ending with a purl row. Join us!

In continuing reprisal of our classes from The Love of Fiber, Kate Torres will share with us her presentation of Forethought/Afterthought Heel. If socks have scared you (those heels are intimidating!) then fear no more. This class will teach the forethought-afterthought heel; great for the first-time sock knitter, or the experienced sock knitter who wants a quick and easy way to keep self-striping yarns doing what they do best. We will discuss fit, sizing, using waste yarn to place the heel, decreasing, picking up stitches and knitting the heel. Materials: A partially completed cuff-down or toe-up sock that is ready to start the heel (placing waste yarn), or a finished tube sock with waste yarn already in place and ready for pickup. If you’re not ready for that, that’s okay, you can watch and learn! IT’S TIME TO CONQUER SOCKS!
May 3rd, 2018_Patton Township Building_6:30 – 8:30
For this month’s program Hannah Black will reprise her Needle Felting Demonstration first presented at For the Love of Fiber. A demonstration only, Hannah will provide tips and tricks for working wool into any form you desire. Hannah has created marvelous monsters and realistic creatures from nature. (If we get enough interest, we will try to persuade her to teach a class at a future date for us to make our own little creations. That’s when the bandaids will come in handy!) For this meeting we need no supplies, just attention. Join us!

This will be our first meeting post For the Love of Fiber–time for a breather and a report on the big event and to greet our newest members! Our program this month once again features Diane Senn and a continuation of Entrelac program. Last month we worked on a flat swatch in entrelac. This month it will be a hat done in the round. You will need16 in circular needles, size 5and 6 for a child’s hat and larger for an adult and 2 or more colors of yarn. With the larger needle, cast on 64 sts and join without twisting. Knit ribbing as long as you want it or 8 rows of stockinget for a curled edge. Place markers every 8 sts in the last row. These live sts will be used for the base triangles.
If you weren’t here last month, or want more work on the swatch, you need needles and 2 colors of yarn. Questions, Diane 237-7340
March 1st, 2018_Patton Township LIBRARY_6:30 – 8:30
This is the last meeting before we present For the Love of Fiber to Centre County on the 17th! Bring all donations, prepare to sign up for volunteering, and bring good cheer! This month our own Diane Senn will preview her FLoF presentation of Entrelac. We are the guinea pigs for Diane! The knitting technique known as entrelac produces an interlocking diamond pattern which results in a woven fabric look. We will be making a swatch which includes the basic triangles and rectangles which make up entrelac patterns. PLEASE BRING TWO DIFFERENT COLORS OF WORSTED WEIGHT YARN AND NEEDLES SIZES 6 – 9 (SINGLE POINT OR CIRCULAR) AND TWO STITCH MARKERS. If you can master this swatch you will be on your way to intricate entrelac!

- Knitted tendrills. Use any weight yarn and needles you would like. Cast on about 20-25 stitches and do about 6 rows of stockinette.
- Lateral braid (also called Vikkel or Estonian braid). Cast on about 20-25 stitches and work about 6 rows of stockinette.
- Buttonloops. Cast on about 10-15 stitches, knit about 5-8 rows and bind off.
January 4th, 2018_Patton Township Building_6:30 – 8:30
We are scheduled to meet this week, Thursday, January 4,for the first meeting in the Happy New Year! This meeting is centered on Charity Knitting and we will focus on various items to knit and the patterns for them. If you can come prepared with yarn (acrylic bends or washable wool) and needles to match size-wise, Norma and Dawn are bringing patterns for hats, mittens, baby sweaters, and more. Some of these are listed on our Ravelry page https://www.ravelry.com/bundles/charity-patterns-20 so you can get an idea of what supplies you might need. There will be some yarn available, and more as the year goes on. Norma suggests for her some of her items Size 8 straight or dpns or 12 or 16″ circulars or longer for magic loop, and worsted weight yarn. The hats seem to need either dpns in size 3 or 4, with sport weight or baby yarn. Well…bring what you have and we’ll see what happens. If you are interested in Knitted Knockers, the yarn required is sport or DK weight all cotton and soft. I use US size 4 double points and one stitch marker. Cathy Riemer has several suggestions for making these even easier to knit. I will bring pattern notes for these.

November 2, 2017 Patton Twp Building 6:30 – 8:30 PM
Monthly Guild meeting, official business begins at 7 PM. This month, Susan Magargee will present a brief program on slip stitch patterns as an introduction to mosaic knitting. Slip Stitch is a way to fool the eye of the observer into seeing something that looks much, much more complicated to knit than it really is. Using only one color per row, slip stitching allows color patterns to emerge using color from the row below. We will casually explore this method through example allowing its ease and usefulness to come to light. There will be an opportunity to knit along to experience various aspects of slip stitch patterning. Bring several colors of matching weight yarns in colors that please along with needles appropriate for the weight. One swatch uses double points, but most are fine with single points. If you like, start several swatches of about 15 – 20 stitches using one color, then purl one row leaving a long yarn for working the swatch. We’ll be using two or three colors for each swatch over several rows. We’ll adapt as we go.
October 5, 2017 Patton Twp Building 6:30 – 8:30 PM
Monthly Guild meeting, official business begins at 7 PM. Our program this month will once again be presented by Chelsey Fisher who will enlighten us on the mysteries of Steeking. Steeking is a method for knitting an article in the round that later is cut at a designated place to allow it to be opened up to insert a button band or zipper or to attach sleeves to a garment. This enables, for example, the knitting of a Fair Isle piece that is all knit stitch without purls that can be made into a cardigan by cutting, WITH SCISSORS, at the designated stitches and binding off the loose stitches to form the opening that doesn’t unravel. You’ll see…
Here are Chelsey’s instructions for the workshop sample: Materials: Worsted yarn (something not slippery), stitch markers, a contrast color yarn, a knitting needle (double points or circular), crochet hook that fits the yarn, darning needle, scissors. With the Main Yarn and double pointed or 16-inch circular needles, cast on 13 stitches, place marker, cast on 25 more stitches. [38 stitches] Place a different color marker and join for working in the round, being careful to not twist the stitches. Round 1: Knit to next marker, sm, p1, k10, p1, knit to end of round. Repeat Round 1 until piece measures about 4 inches from cast-on edge. Bind off. Chelsey will guide us through the technique that could make Fearless Steekers of us all!

Monthly Guild meeting, official business begins at 7 PM.
This month we will have a reprise of Bonnie Ottaviani’s Tension and Pain Relief Strategies which she presented during For the Love of Fiber_2017.Do you push for “just one more row?” Does that additional row give you tense shoulders, aching hands and wrists? Do you sit for hours at your spinning wheel only to feel strained or stuck when you do stand up? Do you have aches and pains from working on a project too long? This Knit & Yoga session will show how to avoid those project stoppers while sharing your passion for knitting, crocheting, or spinning with other yarn and fiber lovers. Bring your current works-in-progress and while you work, you’ll learn important strategies and a little yoga to avoid repetitive stress injuries while sharing our passion for all things fiber! The mission is to inspire you to be physically and mentally healthy to pursue the activities you love through both yoga and a healthy lifestyle.

This is the time to regroup from the holidays and make purposeful strides toward FLoF organization. Plenty of time for social knitting as we contemplate the agenda of techniques to learn this coming year.
This could be an excellent opportunity to learn some new techniques on small practice articles–like a long tail tubular cast on for the Classic Cuffed Hat, or thumb gussets on the World’s Simplest Mittens. Both of these patterns are found on our Ravelry page as noted above. This can use up some leftover stash, especially if you should choose to make an essay into Fair Isle Knitting as in the Tin Can Knits Clayoquot Toque (https://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/clayoquot-toque). I’ll have some copies of this one. This isn’t wasted knitting time–it’s learning functional techniques while doing a good deed. Go ahead–Feel good about yourself!!!
